Fifth Harmony Have New Single Coming ‘In The Next Few Months’
Former ‘X Factor’ contestants talk to MTV News about hitting the studio ‘almost every single day’ for their debut album.
It’s only been a few months since Fifth Harmony appeared on “X Factor,” but they’re already hard at work on their debut album.
“Post-‘X Factor’ it’s been pretty crazy,” Ally Brooke told MTV News on the red carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday. “We had a little bit of time to go home and rest and relax and now we’re in L.A. together, working on our album. We’ve been songwriting together, doing a lot of different tracks. We’ve been recording almost every single day and it’s been phenomenal.”
The ladies described the album’s sound as “definitely pop,” adding that they hope to have a single out “in the next few months.”
In addition to One Direction producer Julian Bunetta, they’ve also enlisted the help of Ali Tamposi (Kelly Clarkson) and Toby Gad and Sam Watters (Jordin Sparks) to help craft tunes for the release.
“We’ve been writing a lot, which is exciting,” Camila Cabello said. “It’s new for us and we’ve been learning a lot from all these amazing people that we’ve been working with. [It’s] so many people that you look at the work they’ve done and you’re like ‘Oh my god! Why are you working with us?’ “
While no release date has been set for the Syco Music debut, the ladies do know what they want to convey on it: unity. Even though the girls never intended on being a group — they were thrown together on “X Factor” last season — musically they feel they have gelled as one. “We hope to make an album that inspired us as artists because we feel like we’ve become Fifth Harmony,” Cabello explained.
When MTV News spoke to Bunetta last month about hitting the studio with the fivesome, he revealed what he hopes to capture on their debut album. “I would hope that every girl would just put it on, when they’re getting ready to go out or when they’re in their car going somewhere and they just want to have a great time,” he told MTV News. “That’s what I want this album to be.”
